Our company in ESG?

EMKA S.A. is one of the leading companies in the medical and veterinary waste disposal industry on the Polish market. We use the latest technologies and safe methods of medical and veterinary waste disposal. This allows us to minimize the emission of harmful substances into the environment and reduce the negative impact on the ecosystem. We place particular emphasis on corporate social responsibility. We support many initiatives, foundations, and sports clubs in the cities where we operate. This allows us to actively participate in the life of local communities and support the development of local initiatives. Our approach to management is based on the values of integrity, innovation, and professionalism.

Company history

1980

The beginnings of Krzysztof Rdest's business activities, which included selling water pistols in elementary school.

1986

Commencement of commercial operations on the Istanbul-Warsaw-Budapest route.

1989–1991

Starting a business in the transport industry by operating a taxi service, which was the first step towards diversifying the business.

1989–1991

Working as an agent for Bar at the market in Skierniewice.

1989–1991

Working as an agent for Bar at the market in Skierniewice.

1989–2007

The establishment of the VIOLA Flower Shop by Krzysztof Rdest and his wife Agnieszka, representing their first major business venture.

1991–1992

Starting a business in the popcorn trade industry.

1992

Launch of a cigarette wholesale business.

1993

The birth of Krzysztof's daughter, Małgosia, inspires a change in the company name from “Handel-Usługi” to EMKA S.A.

2004

Development of the company's infrastructure by owning its own medical and veterinary waste disposal facility and increasing the number of customers, including hospitals, under the company's care.

2005

Strengthening our market position by establishing appropriate company structures, such as a public procurement department, a sales department, and a customer service department, which has allowed for further growth in the number of customers and hospitals served by EMKA S.A.

2006-2011

The company's expansion into Masuria and Podlasie, including the expansion of its facilities, the signing of its first contracts in Pomerania, and the acquisition of the incineration plant in Chojnice.

2012

Transformation of the company into a joint-stock company, sale of the cigarette business, and expansion of the office.

2013-2017

The systematic development of the company and the range of services offered to EMKA customers.

2018-2020

Intensive development of the company, including the construction of installations throughout Poland, with the start of construction of an installation in Kędzierzyn-Koźle.

2021

Małgorzata Rdest joins the company as vice president, and the launch of the first EMKA Mobile application for medical waste management.

We are proud sponsors of the Prowadnica Foundation, which supports blind people by helping them in their everyday lives and providing support for social integration.

Polish Women in Medicine Foundation

Our company is actively involved in the activities of the Polish Women in Medicine Foundation, which fights discrimination against women in medicine by supporting their professional development and equality.

Support for volunteer fire departments

We regularly support local volunteer fire departments by providing the necessary equipment and tools that help them respond effectively in emergency situations.

Support for schools

We care about the development of education by providing teaching aids to schools, thereby supporting the development of young talent and enabling better learning conditions.

Sponsoring sports teams

We are proud sponsors of sports teams such as Chojniczanka Chojnice, Arka Chełm, and ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle, which represent our values and promote a healthy lifestyle and physical activity.

Support for junior sports clubs

Our company actively supports the development of young talent by sponsoring junior sports clubs such as Byki Słupsk, Żyrardowianka Żyrardów, UKS 3 Żyrardów, RELKAS Radziwiłłów and Mszczonowianka, Pogoń Wiskitki.

Pro-environmental activities

We implement pro-environmental initiatives, such as the campaign ”Recycle your waste, get a tree!", which aim to promote conscious waste management and care for the natural environment.
